Frequently Asked Questions

The Federal Energy Tax Credit encourages all Americans to use renewable energy. Currently, the program provides a 30% tax credit of the total solar project. The tax credit is meant to assist owners of a solar energy property(s) that meets established performance and quality standards. A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in the amount of income tax you would otherwise owe.

State tax credits vary from state to state.

Attyx sends you the necessary federal and state tax documents for the year you signed up for solar. This will allow you to file for those incentives and rebates with your tax professional as soon as possible. As stated in the contract, Attyx cannot guarantee tax incentives and rebates, and we don’t offer tax advice, so we recommend that you work with your accountant.

If all incentives & rebates are not able to be claimed in one year there will be future opportunities to claim them in the year(s) following. You can continue to roll over unused portions of your credit for as long as the solar tax credit is in effect.

Depending on the state and city, Attyx will file for the Property Tax Abatement one time.

Solar installation projects are complex and multifaceted in nature. Realistically, the duration of solar projects can take approximately 3–9 months to complete.

Any solar project involves hundreds of people in front and behind the scenes. Daily Attyx works with multiple public entities (city & state), dozens of various technicians, professional contractors (engineers, commissioners, electricians, plumbers, inspectors, etc), and a plethora of office staff working in unison. Every aspect of the operation must work seamlessly while complying with all laws, requirements, and regulations.

We apologize as many of the factors that cause the longest delays are out of Attyx’s control and can result in the solar project taking longer than desired.

Please, be patient with us as we push your project along to completion. We are confident it will be totally worth it once you are producing clean energy for decades to come!

Attyx partners with Enphase Energy. This app gives you all access to monitor your Solar System and solar production. Click here to login if you know your login credentials.

At Attyx our goal is to offset our customers’ utility bills as much as possible. We factor in a variety of variables and constraints that affect how much we can appropriately offset your energy consumption. Here are some of the factors we consider when creating your system:

  • Annual Energy Consumption
  • Credit Report (used to determine qualification for loan amount)
  • Obstructions/Shading Report
  • Roof measurements
  • Zoning Restrictions
  • Fire Code Laws
  • Adherence to City/Department of Buildings guidelines

We work within various parameters to build a solar system that is customized to your specific needs while maintaining compliance with all expectations.

There are a few reasons why your utility bill could still be high:

  • It can take several weeks, from when your solar panels get turned on for your solar panels, to start producing enough energy to offset your utility bill. Solar panels do not automatically cover your energy usage when they get turned on, it takes time to accumulate. This is especially true if your solar system first started producing energy from November through March.
  • If you have an electric and gas bill each month, you will still receive a bill for the gas consumed. Solar production only helps to cover your electricity usage. You may want to explore options of converting from gas appliances to electricity if you are overproducing energy.
  • If your utility company is charging you for electricity consumed, it means you used all the energy produced by your solar panels plus extra energy that was supplied by your utility company. That amount of extra energy consumed can accumulate because of a number of things, such as if you have not switched your light bulbs to energy-saving bulbs, if you are working from home, running the AC/heater constantly, or if anything could have changed since starting solar; along with using large appliances during your power company’s Peak Hours.

On the off chance your system is not operating correctly, it may be reflected in your monthly utility bill. Please check your Enlighten App to investigate if your solar panels are all producing energy. Click here to login.

After your solar panels are installed and operational, you will continue to receive monthly electric service charges from your local utility company. The bill will reflect a basic service fee for the meter regardless of your energy consumption. This is due to your utility company charging you for the Con Edison meter being connected to the city’s grid.

* Consumption needs may vary depending on a variety of factors.

Laws and regulations regarding the installation of backup batteries for solar panels vary by state. The state of New York does not currently allow batteries to be installed because of NYFD fire code restrictions. Other states may offer the installation of backup batteries. For further information on whether your state allows the installation of backup batteries, please contact us at support@attyx.com.
